Looney Tunes' Silly Symphony

The classic Bugs Bunny cartoon "What's Opera, Doc?" has forever wedded Wagner's Ring cycle to Elmer Fudd's quest for hasenpfeffer, thanks to Fudd's immortal "Kill da wabbit!" Today, Warner Bros. cartoons are revered not just for exposing kids to the classics, but also to the studio's musical staff, most notably legendary composer Carl Stalling. The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra performs the extraordinary scores from cartoons such as "The Rabbit Of Seville," "Show Biz Bugs" and "Duck Amuck" as the original shorts are projected on the big screen in Powell Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1700 or www.slso.org) during Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (March 15 and 16). In addition, Warner Bros. latest 3-D animated cartoons, including the Road Runner's "Coyote Falls" and Sylvester and Tweety's "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat," will be screened with a newly animated song from Mel Blanc, the voice of so many 'toons. Tickets are $35 to $65.
