Love 'Em and Leaf 'Em

The course of true love runs a twisting path in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Hermia and Lysander want to wed, but Hermia's father has picked Demetrius as his son-in-law. Hermia and Lysander run off to the forest to be together forever, but a very determined Demetrius follows. The arrival of Helena (who secretly loves Demetrius) seems to provide a fine solution to all problems, but the fairies who live in the wood have other ideas. A little bit of magic in the moonlight leads to everyone desiring the wrong partner, fistfights and at least one donkey-human hybrid before matters are finally put right. The Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis presents A Midsummer Night's Dream Tuesday through Sunday (October 17 through November 9) on the Browning Mainstage at the Loretto-Hilton Center on Webster University's campus (130 Edgar Road; 314-968-4925 or www.repstl.org). Tickets are $17.50 to $79.50.
