Love is a Mixtape

A live performance of songs by the likes of Twisted Sister and Poison at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1678 or www.fabulousfox.com) translates to a stage full of hair towering high enough to threaten toppling the 5,280-pound gilded pot metal chandelier hanging from the fabled venue's ceiling. OK, maybe not. But do count on some dependably big hair, more acid-washed denim and even more big 'n' greasy 80s rock & roll tunes on display as the fabulous Fox welcomes Rock of Ages. This arena-rock musical spins the tale of how a small-town girl (undoubtedly livin' in a lonely world) meets a big-city rocker on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip in 1987. They fall in love to the biggest songs of the era -- cue the monster, spandexed-out hits of Journey, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake and plenty more musique de cheese doodle where that came from! Rock of Ages will rock you and your face like a hurricane through Sunday, February 5; tickets are $30 to $75.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Feb. 3. Continues through Feb. 5, 2012
