Love Triangle

The Progress of Love is a three venue, transatlantic exhibition in which contemporary African artists explore the meaning of the L-word in today's ever-changing global society. The emotional baggage has been scattered from city to city to city, forming an unprecedented love triangle made up of three concurrent presentations. Houston, Texas, will tackle Global Systems of Love; while in Lagos, Nigeria, artists are going to examine The Lived Experience of Love. Here in St. Louis, the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts (3716 Washington Boulevard; 314-754-1850) hosts Love as Mourning, featuring film and video presentations by British-Nigerian artists Zina Saro-Wiwa and Yinka Shonibare, as well as a multimedia installation from a France's Sophie Calle. The Progress Of Love: Love as Mourning opens with a free public reception at 6 p.m. Friday, November 16, and remains up through Saturday, April 20. The gallery is open Wednesday and Saturday. For details on all three exhibits and their unique love connection, visit www.pulitzerarts.org.
