Macht Mit Der Party

Some people eagerly welcome the arrival of October because of Halloween and all the candy. The rest of us look forward to October for another reason; Soulard Oktoberfest and its 2,000 beer kegs and 14,000 brats. Candy is dandy, but beer is more dear, son. Come get your Deutsch on from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday (October 7 through 9) at Lyon Park (Arsenal Street and South Broadway; www.soulardoktoberfest.com). In addition to all the food and beer, Soulard Oktoberfest offers a host of bands, including perennial 'festers Brave Combo and Germany's premier fest-rock band, Dorfrockers (not a Tim Conway tribute band, if you're worried). General admission is $5 per day, but you get in free if you wear lederhosen or a dirndl.
