Outlaw playwright, poet and novelist Jean Genet’s notorious sadomasochistic drama of dominance and servitude, The Maids, has arrived and is here to clean house. In the play, overseen by Upstream Theater guest director Wieslaw Górski, housemaids Solange and Claire while away the hours ritualistically role-playing both sides of their live-in power divide. By day, the two are perfect servants, but their nights belong to a twisted game of dress up, where they enact elaborate fantasies -- rehearsing the murder of Madame, the mistress of the house. The Maids put the M in S&M tonight at 8 p.m. at the Kranzberg Arts Center (501 North Grand Boulevard; 314-289-1523). The show goes on Thursday through Sunday up until Sunday, March 4, with varying showtimes. Tickets are $15 to $25.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 18. Continues through March 4, 2012
