Masters of Their Craft

There are no shortage of boutiques and craft shows selling handmade goods this time of year -- there are several such events scattered throughout this section, in fact. But perhaps no group has a stronger pedigree than the Craft Alliance. The Loop institution has been instructing regular folks in the arts of textile, ceramics, metalwork, jewelry and glass since 1964 -- the staff knows what they're doing, and they can teach you how to do it as well. The Student Faculty Craft Sale at the Craft Alliance's Delmar Loop location (6640 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-1177 or www.craftalliance.org) allows you to buy what they've been busy making. You'll find a great deal of ceramic and glass art objects that make great gifts for those hard-to-please people on your list -- and maybe even for yourself. The sale runs from 9 to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday (November 24 and 25), and admission is free.
Sat., Nov. 24; Sun., Nov. 25, 2012
