Monkey in the Zone

Magic Smoking Monkey, the theater company that always leaves you wanting more, is finally back with more. The group dips back into pop-culture history to pull out a couple of gems for its One-Hour Twilight Zone: Live!, which will be performed with the cheapest props and scenery money can buy. The monkeys get in on the superhero craze by recreating the old Super Friends cartoon (one with both Gorilla Grodd and Apache Chief -- the real stars of the DC universe), then enter the Zone to romp through "To Serve Man" and "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet." The former is about aliens who are real foodies (the worst kind of aliens), and the latter concerns an airplane with a supernatural terrorist on the wing. Expect more laughs per dollar spent than any other show in town. Performances are at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (May 9 through 17) at the Regional Arts Commission (6128 Delmar Boulevard; 314-361-5664 or Tickets are $10 to $15.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 & 10:30 p.m. Starts: May 9. Continues through May 17, 2014
