Dancers aren't mysterious creatures; they are parents, neighbors, teachers, volunteers and students. Become acquainted with some of our community's most talented dancers — people who know how to use movement as more than just a method of performance — and watch some of their work during
ANNONYArts' Reception & Showcase (
www.annonyarts.org). The performing-arts nonprofit presents three mini-concerts throughout this event, and between each, attendees have the opportunity to enjoy drinks and food, ask questions, and meet new people. The showcase starts off at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Foster Dance, a group of teens in the foster-care system, and continues at 8 p.m. with modern-dance pieces featuring Summer Beasley, Dawn Karlovsky and Nicki Tipton Tallent (who also directs Foster Dance). Finishing off the evening with
Traces at 8:30 p.m. is Tom Brady, who also owns Satori (3003 Locust Street; 314-652-3003), where all of tonight's action happens. Tickets to the evening of artistic expression cost $30 to $35; call 314-721-0052 for more information.
