Scooters have recently experienced an uptick in popularity unseen since the days of Quadrophenia. This is a good thing, because scooters are eminently more modifiable than cars — and the more people who are willing to customize their ride, the more beautiful our streets become. The Benton Park Scooter Show celebrates all those who scoot beautifully, with categories for most unique, best in show and best in paint. Registration begins at 5 p.m. in Benton Park (Arsenal Street at South Jefferson Avenue; scootershow.wordpress.com), and entering your scooter in the competition costs either $3 or a donation of school supplies. It's free to spectate, and because winners will be determined by popular vote, the more the merrier.
