No Jelly, Just Jammin'

As varied as the animals at the zoo, so too are their interests. Some, like the cheetah, enjoy snappy music with a good beat, while others, including the sea lions, are partial to classic rock songs they can sing. And the sharks at Caribbean Cove? Well, they appreciate smooth, jazzy tunes -- no big surprise there. Now, with our zoo filled with these diverse tastes, it stands to reason that both Jammin' at the Zoo events (held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, and Wednesday, August 24) put four bands onstage to provide a suitable sunset soundtrack for the animals -- and for you to sip wine by. More than 50 wineries pour all manner of vintages for the sampling, plus food and drinks will be available for purchase. Please note that pic-a-nic suppers will be allowed during the events -- just do not feed the bears (or any other animals, for that matter)! Tickets for the zoo jams cost $10 for general admission or $20 if you want to participate in the wine-tasting part of the evenings (from 6 to 8 p.m.); make a purchase by calling 314-646-4771 or visiting www.stlzoo.org. And don't forget to visit the sharks! They, along with their stingray covemates, will be receiving company from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.
