Normal Is Relative

What the heck is normal, anyway? For all of its boundary-pushing, no-topic-too-taboo reputation, modern society still has a few things that people prefer to keep behind closed doors — and mental illness and family strife remain pretty high on that list. Get a peek behind one home's closed doors in Next to Normal. The Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical explores a family dealing with the effects of the mother's bipolar disorder. Next to Normal is performed Tuesday through Sunday (April 12 through 24) at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1678 or www.fabulousfox.com), with Alice Ripley reprising her Tony-winning lead role. Tickets are $22 to $64.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: April 12. Continues through April 24, 2011
