Parks on Display

Let's cut to the chase: Betty Moore produces stunning photographs. She not only possesses the technical mastery required for this feat, she has the innate mastery. In other words she has the artist's eye and sensibility -- pretty infallible guides. But Moore also is lucky enough to have a really fine wealth of source material at her beck and call, as have all of us who live in the St. Louis metro. We're talking about the beauty and easy accessibility of our first-class system of public parks. St. Louisans are blessed in this regard; Betty Moore's photos ensure we don't forget that fact. Her new exhibition, Portrait of St. Louis Parks, is on display daily through Sunday, November 14, at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org) The show features twenty of her large-scale photographs stretched across canvas; the dazzling imagery captured therein is from public gems like Tower Grove Park, Forest Park and Citigarden. These photos should rekindle your appreciation of some of our best free attractions. Admission is free with a paid Garden admission ($4 to $8).
