RiffTrax Puts The Squeeze on Anaconda

To the untrained ear, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight might sound like the latest cast of judges on American Idol. But those versed in schlock cinema will immediately recall that this triple threat of talent joined forces with Danny Trejo, Eric Stoltz and Owen Wilson to star in the Razzie-nominated, giant-creature feature Anaconda. This 1997 stinker delivers everything today's bad-movie fan could hope for: a paint-by-numbers script, cheesy special effects, thinly developed characters and a scenery-chewing Voight, unafraid to dive deep into the Amazon from those lofty Midnight Cowboy heights. Tonight at 7 p.m., former Mystery Science Theater 3000 host Mike Nelson and his sidekicks Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo) and Bill Corbett (Crow 2.0) put the squeeze on Anaconda, beaming their comic commentary live to select cinemas nationwide, including the AMC 14 in Chesterfield (3000 Chesterfield Mall). Admission is $12.50. For a complete list of participating theaters and to buy advance tickets, visit www.fathomevents.com.
