RV If You Want To

Back when Ms. Day was merely a "Miss," she dreamed of embarking on a grand journey aboard a recreational vehicle. These rides' tiny kitchens enticed her, the hidden beds intrigued her — "What an amazing, portable house!" she always thought. But over the years, as Day grew up, she lost sight of her fanciful reverie, coming to think of RVs only as cramped gas-guzzlers.

And then she received a press release for the St. Louis RV Vacation & Travel Show (314-355-1236 or www.stlrv.com).

This event takes place at America's Center (North Seventh Street and Convention Plaza) Thursday through Sunday (January 11 through 14), and it features all kinds of leisure vehicles — including the Pleasure-Way Plateau, a marvelous people-mover that sleeps four (how roomy!) and gets 22 miles to the gallon! It's just like a dream! To join Day in having a look at the Pleasure-Way and other motor homes and campers, planning a trip to Africa, posing for pics with mounted critters, and much more, be sure to visit the convention center anytime from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday or 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission costs $3.50 to $8.
