Say Nothing

There are a lot of ways to express yourself, but the real challenge comes when something occurs that has such an effect on you that words aren't necessary -- or there are none to adequately express your feelings. In its twelfth year, the DIY-focused Gadabout Film Festival explores the idea of limited communication in its short-film showcase, in which all of the independently created films share a "speechless" theme. The festival stops at restaurant/concert venue/DIY movie theater Melt (2172 Cherokee Street; www.gadaboutfilmfest.com) where New York-based musician and Gadabout creator Eric Ayotte screens the movies and performs, along with electronic musician Eric Hall, beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.
