Schlafly's Legal

When you turn eighteen, a whole host of adult activities are at your disposal: you can (legally) smoke cigarettes, buy pornography and serve in the Armed Forces. Despite all these grown-up rights, however, you cannot imbibe alcohol. So while Schlafly celebrates its eighteenth birthday today, you still have to be 21 to enjoy the myriad styles of St. Louis' largest independent brewery. To celebrate the Schlafly Beer 18th Anniversary Celebration, the brewmeisters throw themselves a party at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street) — and you're invited. The sudsy goodness flows at 1991 prices from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and at 2 p.m. Tom Schlafly and Dan Kopman tap a ceremonial keg signifying the 30,000th barrel of beer produced by Schlafly this year. All of this, plus live music by Quief Quota and Magic City, and there's no cover charge. For more information, call 314-241-2337 or visit www.schlafly.com.
