She’s Crafty

Black Friday means nothing to Ms. Day. She’s so awesome, she’ll be getting all of her holiday shopping done this weekend. Awesome, right? But don’t let her fool you: Said shopping will be accomplished so early mostly because it will be very, very easy. To wit, no less than four fabulous craft fairs fill a variety of venues with gift-worthy goods just ripe for the purchasing! She’ll start spending in Ladue at the Muddy River Arts Holiday Sale, held at the Ethical Society of St. Louis (9001 Clayton Road, Ladue). This craftastic fair features pottery, jewelry and other artisan works from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (November 16 and 17); check out www.muddyriverarts.org for more information. Next, Day will hit up the Unique Boutique Art & Fine Craft Bazaar, happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (November 17 and 18) at John Burroughs School (755 South Price Road, Ladue; 314-993-4045 or www.jburroughs.org). Here, she’ll find baked goods, artwork, ornaments and more — and she’ll pay $5 for the lookin’. Then, Day will point her ride in the direction of Parkway South High School (801 Hanna Road, Manchester; 314-415-7766) to check out the Holiday Spirit Arts & Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (November 17 and 18). At this event admission is free, and a raffle makes shopping at the 200-plus craft booths all the more exciting! Finally, Ms. Day will finish off the buying binge at perhaps her most favorite of all the sales, the Fair Trade Market. This show offers up handmade items from more than 50 countries — and all of the artisans are paid fair wages for their works. Plus, there’s live entertainment, a fashion show and other fun stuff! This market is held at Manchester United Methodist Church (129 Woods Mill Road, Manchester; 636-394-7506 or www.manchesterumc.org) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (November 17 and 18) and again next week on Friday and Saturday (November 23 and 24).
