Shoots vs. Ladders

Our police and firefighters spend their days serving us, the community at large. And on their night off, a bunch of them will serve each other — stiff jabs and bodyblows, mostly. The 24th edition of Guns 'N' Hoses features seventeen boxing matches pitting the police against the firemen in three 90-second rounds. The firefighters won eleven of seventeen bouts last year, and if you think the police team doesn't want to avenge that loss, you're crazy. Guns 'N' Hoses starts at 7 p.m. at the Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-241-1888 or www.stlgunsandhoses.com). Tickets are $7.50 to $27.50, and all proceeds go to BackStoppers, the organization that aids the families of those killed in the line of duty.
