Shop Till You Rock

At the last Rock-n-Roll Craft Show (www.rocknrollcraftshow.com), Ms. Day went on a major shopping spree — she likes to call it Shopstravaganza 2006 — and bought so many wonderful crafts, there's not enough space here to describe them all. But she's gonna try. First, there were the jewelry pieces, so unique yet totally versatile — and affordable. Then, she snatched up some home-décor items: Meg's Magz (simple but profound magnets) and the intricate mosaics were especially nice. Of course, there were wearable (and carry-able) goods at the show as well, from cool kling duct-tape clutches and Super Cute baby clothes to T-shirts and skirts of all kinds. And she almost forgot to mention the paper goods: beautifully unusual handmade books and cards...and, come to think of it, Day needs to stock up on some of those cards. And she could use a new top or two, too. And perhaps a necklace, just to enhance her new clothes. Lucky for her, another Rock-n-Roll Craft Show is happening this weekend! To join Day in what is undoubtedly going to be Shopstravaganza II 2006 — 80 local artists are participating this time around! — just head to the Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street) from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday (November 25 and 26).

Oh, and it's not called the Rock-n-Roll Craft Show for nothing: Twelve bands play outside throughout both days! And you can learn to craft, too, during one of the seven demonstrations and workshops.
Sat., Nov. 25; Sun., Nov. 26
