Much like our underthings, gay and lesbian theater isn’t a one-size-fits-all art form. With Briefs: A Festival of Short Lesbian & Gay Plays, That Uppity Theatre Company and Vital Voice strive to present a rich mix of viewpoints to reach out to St. Louis theater-lovers of all stripes and colors. Throughout the festival, eight directors -- including Ed Reggi and Joan Lipkin -- stage diverse perspectives through eight different works, written by playwrights both local and not. You should expect not only a mind-enriching experience, but a fun time, too -- a DJ entertains the audience in between plays, and there’s a cash bar to help jump-start the thoughtful after-show conversation. Briefs is presented at La Perla (312 North Eighth Street) at 8 p.m. Friday, 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday (February 24 through 26). Tickets, priced at $12 to $15, are available through www.brownpapertickets.com.
