Sisters in Arms

Quick, name one of St. Louis' sister cities. Just one. Man, what a lousy city-sibling you are. How about Stuttgart, Germany? This Swabian town, famous for Porsche and Dinkelacker beer, has been our city in sisterhood since 1960 — that's a 47-year relationship, and you never even said "hello." But you can make it right at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org; $7 to $15). Concertino Stuttgart, a chamber music ensemble, performs the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Scott Joplin, reaffirming the musical bonds between our two burgs. Filial piety is important, even between municipal entities — after all, a city is its people, and vice versa, so show up and help us look nice. You don't want our Mother City getting mad at us, whoever she may be.
