Snow What If It's Cold?

So, you're cold. Reading it there, like that, in black and white, takes some of the sting out of it, no? Why not acknowledge that chilly feeling and then embrace it, like a snugly cashmere sweater and a hand-knit cozy scarf? Both of which you should totally wear, by the way, to the oh-so-cool Loop Ice Carnival this weekend (www.visittheloop.com), where you can actively practice your new emboldened, brrr-embracing lifestyle along with other arctic enthusiasts. At this outdoor fun fest, happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Delmar Boulevard (5965 to 6691 Delmar Boulevard), expect to see all manner of ice carvings, ice slides and frozen buns (especially during the 5K/10K Frozen Buns Runs, happening at 10 a.m.), and prepare to witness amazing feats of strength as folks try to sledgehammer up an ice block and race along as part of various human dog-sled packs. Plus, there's a Putt Putt Pub Crawl, fire performers, the Red Bull Air Force skydiving team (scheduled to land in front of the Moonrise Hotel at 3 p.m.) and much, much more. Admission to the carnival on Saturday, January 18, is free (some activities may cost extra), and if you're so inclined, you should know that there is a Rooftop Snow Ball at the Moonrise on Friday, January 17; tickets for this evening soiree cost $30.
