Aspiring music publishers and A&R scouts looking for the next Lennon and McCartney would be wise to hit Collinsville, Illinois, today for the Southern Illinois Songwriters Festival. Beginning at 2 p.m., 26 bands from these parts (and beyond) will take to ten stages and offer ears a variety of musical styles, including rock, roots, and alt-county. Among the artists showcased are Tone Rodent, The Pelvic Girdle, Pineapple Explode and Kara Thrace and Her Special Destiny. Attendees will find three outdoor stages along Main Street (between Center Street and the parking lot beside Miner's Theater at 204 West Main Street), and seven additional indoor stages at participating venues such as Blues on Main and Johnny’s Sidebar.
