Sound and Visions

After 50 years the James S. McDonnell Planetarium has a new/old trick up its sleeve. Nova Nights is a new star-show-cum-concert series, sort of like a grownup version of Laser Floyd. How great will it be to point out Apus, the bird-of-paradise constellation, to your now-thoroughly-impressed date while the band wails on "Free Bird," or another bird-themed rock song? Local party band the Hulapoppers bust out the jams a wee bit after the doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Your admission includes two drink tickets and trips to the dessert station. The planetarium is located at Clayton and Faulkner drives in Forest Park.
