If you think it's difficult to comprehend your doctor's instructions because of medical jargon, imagine how difficult it would be if English wasn't your native language. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence provides translation services for patients and doctors so that both sides of the healing equation understand what the other is telling them. The Public Policy Research Center provided eleven of these translators with cameras and photography instruction and then set them loose to document their daily lives; the resulting images comprise PPRC Photography Project: Barnes-Jewish Hospital Center for Diversity & Cultural Competence, the new exhibition at the University of Missouri-St. Louis' Social Sciences & Business Building (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-5273 or pprc.umsl.edu). The images are on display daily through Sunday, August 28. Admission is free.
