The Darkness

Instead of bloody gore and oozing guts, thrillers used to involve a lot of edge-of-your-seat suspense, such as that in Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott. This spine-chilling story features a blind woman — played by Audrey Hepburn in the movie version of this tale — who is forced to defend herself when some ruthless thugs come searching for drugs hidden in a doll. As the title suggests, the most exciting action goes down when night falls. Will the blind woman prevail? Find out when St. Louis Community College-Meramec presents this murderous play Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. (October 4 to 8) at the Meramec Theatre (11333 Big Bend Road).
