Determining the best character in Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show is absolutely subjective and totally pointless — but it's probably Riff Raff. The disquieting butler is malevolently intelligent, stingingly sarcastic and a master manipulator. Despite all that, it's still Dr. Frank N. Furter's show; the gloriously campy Frank has the best songs and comes to a tragic end, but he also comes in a few ends before it's all over, so you can't help but love the guy. And in the NonProphet Theater Company's production of the show, the charismatic Robert A. Mitchell is portraying Frank, so hopes are high for a stirring performance. Mitchell has the intensity necessary to really give Frank some bite. So come on out and do the Time Warp again — you know you wanna. The NonProphets present The Rocky Horror Show at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (October 22 to 31) at Southampton Presbyterian Church (4716 Macklind Avenue; 636-236-4831 or www.nptco.org). Tickets are $18 to $20; $30 VIP tickets gain you access to the interactive delights of Frank's Passion Pit, and two free drinks.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 22. Continues through Oct. 31, 2009
