Scott Joplin isn’t the only one to infuse this town’s musical history with a healthy measure of ragtime rhythms -- the St. Louis Ragtimers, celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, have created quite a legacy for the upbeat syncopated style themselves. With band leader Trebor Tichenor tickling the piano keys, Al Striker picking the banjo, Bill Mason playing the trumpet and Don Franz on tuba, this band plays rags and blends them with a little New Orleans style for a sound that is truly its own. Hear for yourself at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday (March 6 and 7) at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard) as the Ragtimers invite you to commemorate their major milestone with them. Tickets cost $12 to $15; call 314-534-1111 or visit www.thesheldon.org to make a purchase. And note: The concert is preceded by a reception with free pastries and coffee starting at 9 a.m.
