The Things We Do for Love

Limun's getting married, because even a Serbian crime boss should be able to enjoy the stabilizing fruits of matrimony. Getting hitched makes you that much more like Ratko Q. Public, less like an outlaw. But Limun's fiancee demands a wedding that's out of the ordinary; she wants the bells and whistles and then some. What's a rather vehemently macho Serb gangster to do? Limun ends up counting on the expertise of Mirko, a gay theater director, and Mirko's very gay friends. In exchange for this favor, Limun agrees to provide the security for Mirko and his pals' Pride parade, which in the past has met with raw, widespread violence from right-wing skinheads. Events careen from complicated to nearly impossible in The Parade, Srdjan Dragojevic's comedy from 2011, presented in Serbo-Croatian with English subtitles. The film screens tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Moore Auditorium on the Webster University campus (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-969-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries), and tickets are $5 to $6.
