The World Comes to St. Louis

There's nothing like summer for some good ol' Americana. But after a while, the standard picnic routine can start to seem a little, well, routine. Not a moment too soon, it's time for the Festival of Nations. Thanks to four stages of entertainment from flamenco to reggae and more than 50 booths of crafts and gifts, this multicultural celebration has something for everyone, from everywhere — how about a Vietnamese dragon dance, henna decorating or some Brazilian samba? The 40-plus food vendors serve worldly eats from Ethiopian injera to Greek baklava, if that doesn't do it for you, they'll dish up hamburgers and hot dogs, too. The Festival of Nations (www.stlfestivalofnations.org) takes place in Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (August 27 to 28). Admission is free.
