This is where the Maplewood Farmers' Market comes in handy; the long-running gathering of growers and artisans takes place on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood; 314-241-2337 or The time is most amenable, and the available produce varies but features necessities such as locally grown figs (Ivan's Farm), traditionally fashioned salume (Salume Beddu), baked goods (Black Bear Bakery) and fresh beer (Schlafly, duh). Admission is free.
Wednesdays. Starts: Aug. 11. Continues through Oct. 6, 2010
