"Born to Be Wild" probably conjures associations of biker bars and related not-quite-family-friendly things. Not to worry: Sometimes associations, like looks, can be deceptive. This Born to Be Wild is completely family-appropriate, and it's the title of the new IMAX film showing in the OMNIMAX Theater at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4400 or www.slsc.org). Morgan Freeman narrates the close-up look at the scientists and laypeople who rescue orphaned elephants and orangutans, striving to gain their trust and rehabilitate them to the stage at which they can finally be released back into the wild. Shot on location in Africa and Indonesia, Born to Be Wild will no doubt register its greatest impact on young viewers — those who'll grow up to find themselves on the frontlines of the battle to prevent species extinction in a world constantly undergoing ruinous over-development. The IMAX film debuts in conjunction with the new "Wildlife Rescue" exhibition at the science center. Tickets are $6 to $9, and the film screens daily through Sunday, March 31.
