Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird was a smash success upon its publication in 1960. Its sensitive examination of racial injustice and the loss of innocence was effectively translated into an Oscar-winning film just two years later, but the stage presentation was a long time coming. In 1990, Christopher Sergel debuted his adaption in Harper Lee's hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, and the play has been performed there annually ever since. This Wednesday, the Lyceum Theatre (114 High Street; Arrow Rock) will present the celebrated stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird at both 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $34.50, and the play will run through September 15.
