If you're compelled to shop on Black Friday but don't want to deal with malls and congested parking lots, the Tower Grove Holiday Fair is an excellent alternative. This small market features DIY crafters selling their wares in the peaceful environs of a church. How's that for relaxing shopping. Vendors include Falling Leaf Arts (custom tailoring and steampunk jewelry), Body by India (natural body care) and BeanMakes3 (kids clothing). 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28. St. John's Episcopal Church (3664 Arsenal Street; towergroveholidayfair.wordpress.com). Free admission.
