Trimming the Fat from Elvis

Aug 30, 2012 at 4:00 am
In the wake of his smash success on the Billboard charts and waist-up appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, it was inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Elvis Presley. Going in, one may have pegged the king as the next James Dean or Marlon Brando, but the films quickly devolved into cheaply made, low-rent (but high entertainment) fun fests. This Tuesday, September 4, at 8 p.m., Super 8 Movie Madness returns to the Way Out Club (2525 South Jefferson Avenue) with a program hailing the king of rock & roll's stint at the Hollywood studios. Multiple Elvis films including Blue Hawaii, Tickle Me, Girls Girls Girls, a blooper reel and more will screen in a lean and mean abridged Super 8 form -- no Fat Elvis here! Admission is limited to those 21 and over and is just $3. For all the details, please go to facebook.com/events/509846612362535.
