Try Small Bites of Maplewood for Dinner

The Taste of Maplewood is a far different thing from tasting Maplewood. While the latter requires licking parking meters and gnawing on the door frames of various boutiques (and is discouraged by ten out of ten medical professionals), the former is a delightful daylong event in one of our region's most charming towns. From noon to 9 p.m. today, Sutton Boulevard is closed off to cars, trucks and roving gangs of zombies, making the quaint stretch a pedestrian-only zone. This open-air market will offer food from area restaurants (always a good bet, considering how many great eateries call downtown Maplewood home), plus wares from boutique retail shops. Adding to the festive atmosphere is a full schedule of live entertainment. On the main stage, Tiny Cows, Jive & Wail and Honey Vox make sweet music; on the new community stage, you'll see the Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Blue Devil Big Band, as well as performers from Piwacket Theatre Group, DD's Dance Class and the Folk School. There is no charge for admission. To find out more about the Taste of Maplewood, call 314-781-8588 or visit www.maplewood-chamber.com.
