Walking the Tightrope

Circuses are not only for the having and making of fun -- sometimes a deeper goal resides within that big-top tent. The St. Louis Arches, a local circus youth group, has collaborated with a faraway circus for a much higher purpose, and this is no small undertaking. The Galilee Circus is an Israel-based circus youth group that teams up both Palestinians and Israelis. Sure, it's still a show with the usual suspects (trapeze artists and sad clowns abound!), but who doesn't like a circus? And since the projected deadline for an Israeli-Palestinian partnership is basically never, take this opportunity to bask in the spirit of unity. The events are scheduled daily through August 5 at various locations, including a performance tonight at Jamestown Mall (Lindbergh and Old Jamestown Road, Florissant) with the Universoul Circus at 7:30 p.m. For specific event details, please call 314-226-3633 or visit www.circusharmony.org.
