We Work Hard for Our Money

So hard for it, honey

Most of the speakers at the Working Women's Survival Show — held Friday through Sunday (February 13 to 15) at the Saint Charles Convention Center (1 Convention Center Plaza) — fit right in with the title of the event. That is to say, they are working women. There's famed lady love expert Dr. Diana Kirschner appearing at noon on Saturday, fashion guru Jackie Walker sharing clothing advice at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and stylist to the stars Sally Hershberger giving hair-care tips at 1 and 4 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday. But one special presenter doesn't fit the mold, in more ways than one: Yakov Smirnoff is scheduled to take the main stage at 2 p.m. on Friday. Before you start scratching your head and wondering about this choice of entertainment, really think about it. Yakov always makes people laugh — and who needs to laugh more than working women? (Speaking from experience, we can be a humorless bunch.) To catch Yakov and to check out all the other informative, fun, indulgent goings-on (you can donate a hat for a free haircut!), pay $6.50 to $8.50 for your tickets at www.wwssonline.com. Show hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
