Web of Friendship

All spiders aren't as thick as the one in the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider." In fact, some arachnids are downright smart, such as is the case with dear Charlotte. Not only can this gray spider write messages in her web, but she can also show compassion and demonstrate friendship, all qualities that Wilbur the pig certainly appreciates, especially considering the fact that Charlotte saves his life. Of course, the Wilbur and Charlotte of whom we write are from E.B. White's children's tale Charlotte's Web. To fall in love with the barnyard story all over again and to introduce your little ones to the tale, head over to the Florissant Civic Center Theatre (Parker Road and Waterford Drive, Florissant; www.florissantmo.com), where a stage version is presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (January 22 through 24). The show is part of the St. Louis Family Theatre Series, and tickets cost $7 and are available by calling 314-921-5678.
