Weird Science

The mad scientists over at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue; www.slsc.org) know that you've finally learned how to strategically stack those blocks to make a mini-Arch. And that you're so cool that you have already mastered the Segway. But these lab laborers have found a new challenge for you: understanding the science behind wine blends and blending your wines. You don't know anything about any of that! In fact, in the past you would've turned to your local wine merchants for such information (and/or that childhood beaker set), but now with the Science Uncorked: The Science of Wine series, the Science Center has cornered the learning-about-wine-through-science market. See for yourself from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight on the center's bridge, where you can discover blended wines, eat food from Red Moon, listen to music and hang out with other curious wine enthusiasts, all for $40. Tickets are available by calling 314-289-4424 — and clocking the speed of the cars on Highway 40 is included in your admission.
