Wheel Big Fun

As the number of bikers increases — from your bike-to-workers to your leisurely Schwinn riders — so does the number of fun biking events. One such cool two-wheel time (both for riders and spectators) is the O'Fallon Grand Prix Omnium, held over three days in the O'Fallon, Illinois, area. There's the Friday, June 14, 13.1-mile time trial (at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois), a rural road race on Saturday, June 15, which also features 11 a.m. races for the kiddos (helmets required!), starting at O'Fallon's Fulton Junior High School (307 Kyle Road), and lastly, the Auffenberg Dealer Group Criterium in downtown O'Fallon (116 East First Street) on Sunday, June 16. At this final Grand Prix event, folks are invited to gather around the one-mile circuit and watch as cyclists speed around ten turns (!), racing for prizes. Fun stuff happens all day, including another kids' race, starting at 1:30 p.m. Admission to watch is free, and if you're interested in registering to ride, check out www.ofallongrandprix.com for fees and more information.
