Who Are We?

Jan 6, 2011 at 4:00 am
This group show explores the interior and exterior of the human body, through pieces that examine the psyche and the figure. In the case of Hawaiian artist Esther Shimazu, both concepts are addressed with her meticulously-crafted clay sculptures of the female form (toes and even teeth are hand-built for each piece). These women evince a comfort with their physiques, despite them not matching the fashion-magazine ideal, that reveals a delight in their own skin. Multiple Personalities opens with a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 14, at the Craft Alliance (6640 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-1177 or www.craftalliance.org). Admission is free, and the work remains on display (every day except Monday) through Sunday, March 6.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 14. Continues through March 6, 2011
