Who Loves the Birds

David Tennant did a great deal of work as the tenth Doctor Who, revitalizing the character and the show with his natural enthusiasm for the whole enterprise. But the Doctor wasn't the only character to benefit from a makeover during Tennant's run; the villainous Cybermen were also reimagined for a big two-parter, marking the 40th anniversary of their introduction. Those two episodes, "Rise of the Cybermen" and "The Age of Steel," depicted the Cybermen as human beings who willingly became living machines in a bid for immortality. This key bit of Whovian lore gets the big-screen treatment in Doctor Who: Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel. The episodes are fused together into a single story and come with behind-the-scenes extras and a new interview with David Tennant. Speaking of Mr. Tennant, he also narrates a special edition of the BBC documentary Earthflight 3D, now called Wings 3D. Wings puts you among flocks of soaring birds in RealD 3D. You can see both the Doctor Who deal and Wings 3D for one ticket. The Doctor Who portion screens at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, and Wings 3D screens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the AMC Chesterfield 14 (3000 Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield; www.fathomevents.com). Tickets are $18.
