Sit down here at the dinner table, er, the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org), and straighten up! Patricia Corrigan, local food writer and author of Eating St. Louis: The Gateway City's Unique Food Culture, has some deliciously filling tales to tell us this evening, beginning at 7 p.m. Sure, you've probably heard some of them before — you're acquainted with the story of the Lemps and yummy Volpi salami — but we guarantee you don't know all of the local culinary-scene facts that Corrigan covers in her book, and you definitely haven't seen all of the pictures! For instance, are you familiar with the Golden Fried Chicken Loaf? Or how about Christian Staehlin's Phoenix Brewery? Eating St. Louis includes these topics and more; several groceries, farmers' markets, food- and drink-makers, and restaurants old and new, existing and defunct, are featured in the book. Behaving at tonight's free presentation isn't an option — but if you're extra-good, Corrigan will sign your copy of Eating St. Louis, which costs $29.95.
