Wine and Dine and Wind Around

You might think winery season has gone the way of daylight saving time, but fortunately, in the name of all that is fermented, that's where you'd be wrong. Not only are wineries open this time of year, but the ones in Hermann, Missouri, host the festive Holiday Fare Wine Trail weekend event. On Saturday and Sunday (November 17 and 18), you can pay seven wineries a visit and sample seasonal dishes paired with various vinos. There's Stone Hill Winery (1110 Stone Hill Highway) with lebkuchen (German cookies) and mulled Hermannsberger, OakGlenn Vineyards and Winery (1104 Oak Glenn Place) with "Beef Balls Deluxe" and a 2005 Norton, and Hermannhof Vineyards (330 East First Street) with a three-mushroom tartlet and Chambourcin, just to name a few. To purchase your $30 ticket in advance, which is required, visit www.visithermann.com, and to learn what the other four wineries plan to serve, check out www.hermannwinetrail.com.
