Wine for Life

Here's Ms. Day's problem: She can never remember what wines she likes! She has no trouble recalling her favorite beers, but truth be told, she has access to far fewer brews. Wines are a different story. So here's what she's going to do: She's going to bring her reporter's notebook and her reporterly ways to the St. Louis Wine Festival, and she's going to sip and study, and listen and learn. At this two-day affair, she'll have plenty of experts to guide her and more than enough time to research — the fest runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (September 25 and 26). The $25-to-$35-per-day admission, a portion of which benefits the Flora Conservancy of Forest Park, nets her ten wine-tasting tickets (and the choice of sampling more than 150 wines!), plus there will be opportunities for her to sit in on wine seminars and check out cooking demonstrations. If the latter whets her appetite, restaurants including Roxane, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse and others offer up eats for sale. To learn more about the St. Louis Wine Festival and to purchase tickets in advance, visit www.stlouiswinefestival.com; the fest is held at the Grand Basin in Forest Park.
