Work by Verena Brassel

A new month entails new cultural opportunities; March arrives bearing a Swiss accent. Work by Verena Brassel showcases the multimedia paintings of this artist, born in Winterthur, Switzerland, who's earned an international following. Brassel has found an especially deep well of inspiration in her trips to Israel, which she first visited in 1990. Central to Brassel's muse is a fascination with ancient texts and their enigmas; she often incorporates fragments of them into her paintings. She also blends her own pigments utilizing the soil and minerals she gathers during her Israeli sojourns.
