Sure, the Internet has let you expand your musical tastes beyond Scandinavian weather metal and whatever brassy pap is lighting up Broadway this season, but do you really know what kinds of music are beloved in, say, Nairobi or Sao Paulo? The American Chamber Chorale's new concert, Rhythm!, gives you a chance to discover both modern and traditional music from Africa and Latin America — minus the annoying wait for a new download. The performance features special guest appearances by traditional percussionists and dancers as well as African storyteller Kenya Ajanaku. So put away your iPod and head down to Concordia Lutheran Church (505 South Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood) at 7:30 p.m. for the pre-show lecture (the concert begins at 8 p.m.). Tickets for the performance cost $15, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Youth in Need. For more information call the American Chamber Chorale at 314-638-0793 or visit www.americanchamberchorale.com.
