You Are What You Eat

Food, movies and activism often mingle on the menu at Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood; 314-241-2337). Tonight the brew-pub serves an extra helping of all three with its latest installation of Slow Food St. Louis' Food On Film Series, which showcases food activism documentaries. Previously the series has explored the claim that degenerative diseases affecting people today can be controlled by rejecting animal-based processed foods (Forks Over Knives) and globalization as it relates to food (One Man, One Cow, One Planet). This month, join three men on a quest for a diet that promotes both good health and small carbon footprints in Planeat. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the film screens at 7:30. The $5 suggested donation directly benefits Slow Food St. Louis’ Small Farm Micro Biodiversity Grant. For more information, visit schlafly.com/events.
